I am an associate trainer of the First Aid Training Co-operative, which was established in 2015. I deliver First Aid At Work and Outdoor First Aid courses but also have access to the full range of courses on offer. I’ve joined the co-operative because I believe in their values and their mission "to train first aiders to have the knowledge and confidence to save lives."
All of our courses are delivered in a practical, hands-on fashion – true to the concept "I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." All our trainers use language everyone can understand – no medical jargon or confusing terminology.
Courses that I deliver:
Emergency First Aid At Work plus Hospitality (EFAW+H)
Unfortunately, accidents happen in restaurants, hotels and other hospitality businesses. Customers can fall ill whilst in the dining room or staff can encounter a range of burns in the kitchen. Our course will equip you to deal with such situations confidently.
The course covers all topics required in the standard Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course plus additional content related to incidents occurring in catering and accommodation businesses. For example, what to do if a customer is choking in the dining room, if the sous chef suffers a large burn from the oven or somebody suffers from an anaphylactic shock due to something they ate. Our courses are very practical and we will use examples and scenarios relating to the relevant setting throughout (in the restaurant, in the kitchen, in the hotel room etc).
By the end of the course you will be able to:
• Recognise and respond to an accident or illness arising at your business;
• Confidently manage an accident or illness incident;
• Help your business fulfil its duty of care towards others;
• Undertake a range of key lifesaving first aid procedures including Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
