Customer Relationship Skills for the Outdoor Industry "Guiding the Extra Mile"
Guiding the Extra Mile was developed based on industry research and experience, especially for anyone working in the outdoor industry who wants to go that extra mile. Previous participants came from organisations like National Trust for Scotland, John Muir Trust, freelance guides and aspiring outdoor instructions at the School of Adventure Studies.
The course is split into spending the morning indoors learning and sharing ideas and best practice about the customer journey, ways of understanding about our clients and how to improve our understanding of their needs. In the afternoon we venture outdoors and learn by practising short presentations and activities and focus on our soft skills. The outdoor industry can be a lonely one and most of us work on their own – the afternoon will give a great opportunity to learn from each other and try out new delivery methods.
This course is delivered in a workshop-style with lots of discussions, group work and interaction and usually runs 9am – 5pm.
